Fiat 500 reaches 1,500,000
milestone
11 November 2015 | OEM
The FIAT 500 has reached the 1.5 million
unit milestone in Europe with the landmark
car in question, a white 1.2 Pop, rolling
off the production line in Tychy, Poland,
destined for its new owner in France.
The FIAT 500 has reached this
impressive tally just eight years and four
months after its launch, collecting more
than 40 international awards along the way
including the prestigious European Car of
The Year accolade in 2008. It is now on
sale in more than 100 countries around the
world, from Japan to North America, with the
UK accounting for more than 240,000 of the
total number sold in Europe.
For 2015, FIAT refreshed the exterior
and interior, retaining the unmistakable
500 look that has made it such a global
success but making it even more attractive
and contemporary, adding advanced
technologies, improved efficiency and
even more customisation options than ever
before. In total, no fewer than 1,900 changes
have been made, most noticeable of which
are the new front headlights with LED
daytime running lights, the distinctive new
rear light clusters and the new dashboard
with its innovative UConnect infotainment
system.

The new V-Class was presented at this
year’s Tokyo Motor Show and will become
available in Japan as of January 2016. With
the start of sales in Japan, the new MPV is
set to make its mark in a further important
right-hand-drive market, after Great Britain.
The V-Class was also presented at the
Dubai International Motor Show and will
become available from spring 2016 onwards
in markets like the United Arab Emirates
and other countries in Middle East. Since
its market launch in 2014 the V-Class has
proved itself internationally successful. Sales
increased by 22% to 24 900 units in the first
10 months of this year. The V-Class is now
available from Mercedes-Benz passenger
car and commercial vehicle dealers in more
than 90 countries.
According to Volker Mornhinweg, Head
of Mercedes-Benz Vans: “The rapid growth
of V-Class sales underlines that our MPV
suits our customers’ taste - and does so
all over the world. I am convinced that
the quality and the many opportunities for
individualisation offered by the V-Class will
also appeal to our customers in markets like
Japan or Dubai.”
“By the way we will be extending our
V-Class portfolio further in 2016 with new
features such as the AMG Line or the largest
panoramic roof in the segment”, said Volker
Mornhinweg.
Wider range of equipment features
The end of 2015 will see the start of sales
for the sporty V-Class AMG Line that will
be at dealerships as of spring 2016. The
V-Class AMG Line adopts the striking design
features that characterise the performance
and sports car brand Mercedes-AMG. These
include redesigned front and rear aprons,
distinctive side sill panels, 19-inch AMG light-
alloy wheels and an additional spoiler lip.
The hallmark AMG touches are continued
in the interior with silver chrome air vents,
sports pedals in brushed aluminium and
carbon-fibre-look trim as well as a black roof
liner.
New equipment features enhance
comfort and functionality of the MPV.
Also available from spring 2016 will be a
panoramic roof, a large centre console with
integrated refrigerated compartment and
LED-illuminated insulated cup holders as
well as iPad holders in the rear.

McLaren has added several new members to its New York-based team, increasing the size
of the office by nearly 50%. The hirings are prompted by the arrival of three new models,
new retailer appointments and projected 100% increase in sales volume in 2016.
“After several years of hard work
establishing the McLaren brand in North
America, we are thrilled to announce this
expansion of our team. These new hires
represent a measure of our success to date,
and a bright outlook for the future as we
prepare for the arrival of the 675LT and the
introduction of Sport Series model range,”
said Anthony Joseph, President of McLaren
North America.
After years of actively managing the sales
team along with the overall business, Joseph
has hired Bob Woerner as Vice President of
Sales. Woerner will be responsible for scaling
up the sales department and is based in the
McLaren New York office. Woerner joins
McLaren after many years in the industry;
having worked with Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz,
and most recently Aston Martin.
Woerner will be supported by two
new members to his sales team; Karen
VanderMeulen will move from the role of
East Coast Marketing Manager to that of
East Coast Area Sales Manager. Peter Salzer
has been hired to manage a newly-formed
third sales territory for McLaren, and will
be based on the West Coast. Peter joins
McLaren with extensive industry experience
at brands such as Maserati, Mercedes-Benz
and Porsche.
McLaren has recruited Andy Thomas to
the role of Vice President of Marketing and
Communications. Thomas joins McLaren
with a wealth of experience gained at brands
such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and, most
recently, BMW. In his new role he will be
supported by new hires Frank Consuegra as
West Coast Marketing Manager and Sabina
Andrew as Events Manager.
McLaren has promoted Simon Andrew to
Head of Aftersales, and Andrew is building
out the team with new recruits. Sean Lee
joins as Eastern Region Aftersales Manager,
bringing experience from brands in both
the luxury and mass-market spaces. David
Stevely, an engineer from the McLaren
Technology Centre in England, has moved
to the U.S. for the position of Aftersales
Manager for the Western Region.
Vice President of Finance and Operations
Derek Meyer has added two members to the
finance team; Jordan Galbraith has joined
as the Accounts Receivable Specialist and
Jackie Perez has joined as a Finance Analyst.
Other office changes include former
McLaren East Coast Sales Manager Rob
Rizzo taking over the role of Network
Development Manager. Rob will be
responsible for retailer development, sales
training and regional product management.
Sam Henry has also joined McLaren North
America from headquarters in the UK. Sam
has taken on the role of Sales Controller
where he will be responsible for sales
planning.
All of the recent hiring by McLaren is taking
place to support the arrivals of the track-
focused 675LT and the Sports Series range,
from which the first model – the McLaren
570S Coupe – is arriving this month. These
models represent a considerable increase in
sales volume, and McLaren is staffing early
to prepare for the arrival of the additional
models.
