2 March 2015 | Vehicle Launch/Concepts
A new version of Abarth’s stunning 500, the Bi-Colore Edition, is being released in the
UK market on March 2, with only 50 units of this model being built.
Just 50 of the striking 500 Bi-Colore will
be built, the high performance brand has
just announced. A unique Scorpione two-
tone Black over Record Grey paint finish,
17-inch 10-spoke diamond finish alloy
wheels, Abarth sports seats with natural
leather trim, and rear privacy glass all
feature as standard on the special edition.
Based on the Abarth 500 Custom, the
Bi-Colore is powered by a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet
16-valve engine with a sporty five speed
manual gearbox. With 135bhp of power
available and a maximum 206Nm of torque
at 3000 rpm, the Abarth has a 0-62 mph
time of just 7.9 seconds and a top speed
of 127 mph, yet it returns 47.1mpg fuel
economy on the official Combined Cycle.
Fog lights and satin steel rear twin
exhausts complete the sporting look,
while inside, the leather steering wheel,
DualdriveTM electric power steering with
Sport function, climate control, CD and
MP3 with six speakers and Blue&MeTM
hands-free system are also all standard
equipment.
“The Bi-Colore colours across the
Abarth range have already proved popular
with our customers, and this exclusive
Black over Grey edition is a particularly
good example of how striking the cars can
look,” says Gerry Southerington, Head of
Brand, Abarth UK.
“So with just 50 available in the UK,
anyone looking for something special,
with top quality equipment included as
standard, should move quickly to secure
this latest Abarth Bi-Colore.”

SPORTSPACE forGeneva
27 February 2015 | Vehicle Launch/Concepts
To be unveiled to the world at Geneva, the
Kia SPORTSPACE is perhaps the ultimate
‘getaway’ car – a practical vehicle for
everyday business use, yet a stylish and
athletic grand tourer in the classic sense.
The working week is over. The late
afternoon sun is glinting on the ice crystals
in the road-side snowbanks and turning the
snow-capped peaks ahead pink. The road
snakes ahead towards a weekend of fun
and action. The journey demands a swift,
efficient and refined machine to allow the
maximum pleasure to be extracted from the
time available.
This is exactly the role for which the Kia
SPORTSPACE was conceived. Its muscular
proportions are ready to deliver a safe,
secure but speedy passage to the slopes.
Its cosseting and refined interior provides
convivial yet individual space for its four
passengers. Its sleek and elegant lines
– both inside and out – are functional but
stylish, allowing its travelling partners
both comfort and convenience within a
bodyshape that stands out from the crowd.
Conceived and developed at Kia’s
European Design Centre in Frankfurt under
the leadership of Gregory Guillaume, Chief
Designer Europe, the Kia SPORTSPACE is a
car that spurns traditional compromises. It is
neither saloon car nor wagon. It is neither
hatchback nor shooting brake. It is instead a
vehicle that can meet the demands of those
who refuse to be categorised when it comes
to their lifestyle or their motoring needs.
Guillaume is open about its origins: “Kia
does not have a wagon in this important
segment of the European market, but I was
determined that we would not simply create
something that conformed to tradition. This
car comes from an ambition I had when I was
studying design in Switzerland as a young
man.
“I always had this picture in my mind of
creating a vehicle that I could have used
to go for a weekend’s skiing with friends
before driving back for it to be displayed
at the Geneva Salon. Geneva is a special
show for me – it comes as winter starts to
release its grip. It has a special atmosphere
and a particular appeal. The ideal concept
vehicle had to reflect this – and I believe the
SPORTSPACE does just that!” he added.
Indeed, the Kia SPORTSPACE stands as a
very different type of vehicle in the segment.
It is neither meant to be, nor does it look like,
a load-lugger – it is clearly a sleek, road-
eater that owners will want to get into and
drive. A long way.

Audi R8heads forGeneva
27 February 2015 | Vehicle Launch/Concepts
No model bearing the four rings is closer to
motorsport, none is more striking and more
dynamic: at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi
will present the second generation of its
high-performance R8 sports car.
The mid-mounted V10 and newly
developed quattro all-wheel-drive system
ensure breathtaking performance, especially
in the top-of-the-range version with 610PS,
which not only powers to 62mph from rest
more rapidly than any series production Audi
in history but is also the first to be capable of
officially pushing beyond 200mph.
The R8 has been newly developed from
the ground up – it is more taut, more striking
and more focused both on the race track
and on the road. Key contributions to the
marked improvements over its critically
acclaimed predecessor are made by the
high-revving mid-mounted engine with
significantly enhanced performance, the
architecture with its even greater emphasis
on lightweight construction principles and
the advanced chassis with quattro drive
system and fully variable torque control.
“Motorsport is in Audi’s genes, it has
always been a permanent feature of our
brand’s character,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich
Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical
Development at Audi.
“With the new Audi R8, our engineers are
bringing accumulated racing expertise from
the race track onto the road. No other model
of ours evokes more dynamic emotion.
The new R8 V10 plus is therefore the most
powerful and fastest series-production Audi
of all time.” Thanks to the close cooperation
between racing engineers, racing drivers
and developers, the Audi R8 has seen a
clear performance increase – this benefits
both the series production car and the R8
LMS developed on the basis of this.
