Although Toyota ceased production of its highly popular and long-loved flagship sports car, Supra, in 2002, it was revived as a "GR Supra Racing Concept" at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show earlier this year, demonstrating Toyota's commitment to bringing the Supra back to the market.
The prototype of the new Supra has already appeared in front of fans at various occasions this year. In July, the new Supra made its international debut in prototype form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. More recently, in October, the Supra also took part in VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, Race 9 and completed the race, as part of the vehicle's development activities.
Toyota expects its new Supra to reach the worldwide markets during the first half of 2019.
The LX is also enhanced with black trim for the headlamps, foglights and windows along with smoked headlamp lenses. The rear of this flagship SUV continues the black theme with black chrome accents for the taillamps, license plate and back door.
An exclusive Moonlight White Semi-Aniline Leather Trim with a black headliner complements the black exterior. To help complete the thoughtfully crafted luxury SUV, the carpet, cargo mats and key gloves all provide unique finish to the interior.
All LX Inspiration Series come with heated and ventilated front and second-row outboard seats. The Climate Concierge feature automatically monitors the temperature of the four separate climate zones and adjusts not only the fans, but also the temperature of the seats and steering wheel.
Every LX Inspiration Series also includes the following features: Rear Seat Entertainment System, 19-speaker, 450-watt Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound audio system and Colour Head-Up Display (HUD).
Available just in time for the winter holidays, only 500 luxury owners will be able to drive the exclusive LX Inspiration Series home. It will go on sale with a starting Retail Price (MSRP) of $100,420.
Like all LX 570s, the LX Inspiration Series is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 383 horsepower and 90% of its 403 lb.-ft. of torque available at 2,200 rpm. Equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the LX is capable of towing up to 7,000-lbs.
The LX's sturdy body-on-frame structure is combined with a multi-terrain system to enhance the driver's control over challenging, varied landscapes. The system adapts to five different types of terrain — Rock, Rock and Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock and Mud and Sand.
Driver's also get additional support from the LX's innovative Crawl Control system that is fortified with Turn Assist, Hill-Start Assist Control and Variable Gear Ratio Steering.
Drivers are armed with the standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). To help keep the driver's eyes on the road, the LX puts more information directly in line of sight with a Colour Head-Up Display (HUD) on the windshield. This system shows the vehicle speed, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control information icons and Intuitive Park Assist.
The LX Inspiration gets the standard Lexus Safety System+ that includes Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Intelligent High-Beam headlamps and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
A 12.3-inch navigation display with Remote Touch Interface (RTI) heads a list of multimedia and connectivity features that keep the LX on the cutting edge of user tech. The multimedia display screen can be split into three sections to show different functions, such as navigation, audio and climate control information.
"It's always our goal to exceed our guests' expectations," said David Christ, group Vice President and General Manager, Lexus division. "We expect the LX Inspiration Series to continue that tradition with its customized features. We look forward to this new addition to the lineup and are excited for our guests to Experience Amazing."
One of the especially noteworthy innovations of this concept is the multivariable loading area: in just a couple of simple steps it can be significantly extended thanks to the folding rear panel of the double cab.
The concept car is positioned below the Amarok, but is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB), such as the successful Tiguan compact SUV.
The world premiere of the all-wheel drive prototype coincides with the countdown to the launch of the series version: It will be launched – virtually unchanged – on the Brazilian market as early as 2020. However, the potential of this new pickup is so great that it could also enhance the Volkswagen model range in other regions of the world.
The Si Coupe and Sedan are highly praised for their exceptionally responsive chassis, high-torque VTEC Turbo engine and outstanding overall value.
The sport-tuned Si variants of the 10th generation Civic lineup boast numerous standard performance features, including a powerful 205-horsepower, 1.5-litre, direct injected and turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine with VTEC valvetrain, a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission, a helical limited-slip differential, and an adjustable two-mode adaptive damper system.
Available in 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan body styles, the 2019 Civic Si benefits from a number of other changes to its interior. In addition to the updated Display Audio system, Civic Si receives larger cupholders, more intuitive steering wheel controls, an improved electronic parking brake switch, and physical buttons for fan speed.
Additionally, Platinum White Pearl is added to Civic Si's exterior color palette, while Si Coupe gets a new Tonic Yellow Pearl. While the summer tyre package is no longer available as a factory trim, it remains available as a dealer-installed option.
The Civic Coupe and Si are produced in Ontario, Canada, with its turbocharged engine produced exclusively at the Anna, Ohio engine plant using domestic and globally-sourced parts.
The Speedtail can achieve the highest maximum speed of any McLaren to date, reaching 403 km/h (250mph), yet will also deliver an unprecedented blend of contemporary craftsmanship, materials innovation and bespoke personalisation. Just 106 will be created and all are already reserved, at a price of from £1.75 million ($2.24 million) plus taxes.
"McLaren has never built a vehicle like the Speedtail before. As our first 'Hyper-GT', the Speedtail is the ultimate McLaren road car; a fusion of art and science that combines an astonishing maximum speed with an iconic central-driving position and a truly pioneering approach to bespoke personalisation. A ground-breaking hybrid powertrain sits within a lightweight carbon fibre body reminiscent of sleek 'streamliners' that once set world speed records, while the luxurious three-seat cockpit offers a sublime combination of an incredible driving experience, unmatched individualism and innovative materials never seen before in a road-going vehicle," said Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive.
As the most powerful and most aerodynamically drag efficient McLaren, the Speedtail can exceed the 243mph record peak speed of the legendary McLaren F1, a feat made possible by intense collaboration between McLaren's design and engineering teams to deliver a peerless blend of aerodynamic, powertrain and dynamic excellence. It is also significant that this is the first of 18 new cars or derivatives that McLaren will introduce as part of its Track25 business plan.
The teardrop-shaped cockpit and aerodynamically optimised body are the foundation for the exceptional aerodynamic drag efficiency, with innovative features such as carbon fibre front-wheel static aero covers, retractable digital rear-view cameras (in lieu of mirrors) and patented active rear ailerons furthering contributing to the ultra-low drag achieved.
The Speedtail model is built around a bespoke McLaren Monocage carbon fibre structure and benefits from lightweight engineering throughout, including an all-carbon fibre body, aluminium active suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. The powertrain is a pioneering petrol-electric hybrid developing a combined 1,050PS to support the extraordinary performance.
A speed of 403km/h (250mph) is achieved in a unique Velocity mode, which has been developed specifically for the Speedtail. Velocity mode optimises the hybrid powertrain for high-speed running, while also tailoring the angle of the active rear ailerons. Additionally, the digital rear-view cameras can be retracted to further improve drag. Furthermore, the Velocity Active Chassis Control can lower the Speedtail by 35mm, leaving the highest point of the vehicle just 1,120mm from the road surface.
The hybrid powertrain enables a relentless increase in vehicle speed regardless of engine rpm and the low weight of the Speedtail – only 1,430kg dry – hastens this ability. The straight-line acceleration of the Speedtail sets a new benchmark for a McLaren, with 0-300km/h (0-186mph) achieved in just 12.8 seconds; McLaren Automotive's previous Ultimate Series hybrid, the McLaren P1, could reach this speed in 16.5 seconds. A bespoke P-ZERO tyre designed for the Speedtail's extreme speed has been developed with McLaren technology partner, Pirelli.
The driver is positioned centrally in the luxurious cockpit, with seating for two additional passengers set slightly rearwards. There is luggage space within both the nose and tail of the vehicle and a bespoke luggage set is available to every owner, the carbon fibre, leather and metalwork on the cases being matched to the interior specification of their Speedtail.
Resplendent in Speedtail Silver, a Nano-metallic, 'molten-effect' paint developed by McLaren specifically for this car, the model displays both aniline leather – a leather dyed with soluble dyes to retain the hide's natural surface – and a new lightweight leather. The cockpit provides enticing glimpses of personalisation opportunities available; with each Speedtail being tailored to the owner's individual tastes by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the division of McLaren Automotive responsible for bespoke customer commissions, it is virtually certain that no two examples will be identical.
The limited production of the Speedtail has given McLaren the opportunity to push colour and materials design into unchartered territory and owners will experience an unprecedented journey of vehicle personalisation, leading up to the beginning of 2020 when the first deliveries of this rarest of Ultimate Series McLaren will take place.
